14 young, talented students from Africa visited the 8Gear Head Office. The students were welcomed at 8Gear Head Office!
Welcome!
The 8Gear staff were really excited to get to know and work with ABE Internship Students from various African countries! They are all so talented, succeeding people. Their professions are such as Politics, Economy, Finance, Advertisement, Education, Industry, Medical Science and other technical category. Overall, they are interested in trading of used vehicle and that is why they chose 8Gear as their internship partner.
1week Internship program ABE Initiative Internship program is a strategic five-year plan run by the Japanese government. It is aimed to give opportunities for edukation to talented african youth. They are invited to study at Japanese Universities and obtain chances to join the internship programs at Japanese enterprises. 8Gear hosted the 5 days summer-time Internship Program for the second batch ABE Initiative participants where they learned various methods regarding used commercial vehicles such as sales, purchase, and trading.Day 1 : Introducing 8Gear
Welcoming the participants at 8Gear head Office, welcome speech given by the President T. Miyata. The program was followed by the observation tour to one of 8Gear's exhibition sites, where the participants learned about:
-Operation of a crane truck!
-The method to clearing the body of dump trucks with scrapers for overseas customers!
-Opening Dump truck cabinet and explore the engine room!
-Cleaning truck cargo with high pressure water is also essential!
-The mechanism of cargo trucks!
It was an extraordinarily warm day for the end of September. The participants did very well and hopefully enjoyed the tour!Day 2 : Tour to Hitachinaka Port
HITACHINAKA Port is one of the hub ports in Japan for import and export of used trucks and heavy machineries. The port is located in the same area where major manufacturer for heavy machineries such as Hitachi and Komatsu operate their factories. The participants investigated the areas where only especially permitted personnel are allowed to enter.
-Vehicle Inspection area!
-Paid visit to a major Japanese Shipping Agency [FWT]
-Had a special lecture about Hitachinaka Port!Day 3 : Tour and lecture at 8Gear Head Office
Tour around the whole team in 8Gear Head office, Sales section, Creative section, and general affairs. The day was followed by the lectures about the company, vehicles, and trading.
-Being introduced to all the teams in the office!
-Lectures to learn what 8Gear handles and their business!

With the information and knowledge they have learned in the program, each participant now work on a presentation to share their ideas with 8Gear staff.
-Having a heated discussion with other participants!
-Getting the ideas into shape!
-Taking break time once in a while using 8Gear's welfare facilities!
-...and even tried modeling for the 8Gear website! See them on actual 8Gear site soon!!Day 5 : Presentation
Participants shaped their ideas into documents, and made presentations in front of the whole 8Gear team. 'My business plan- with 8Gear's Vehicle stocks, to my own country'!
Through the presentation, they shared what they had learned through the program, and gave new ideas to 8Gear personnel. It was only for 5 days, but was really fruiteful experience for both sides!The last moment, Farewell party!
After the presentation, the program was finalized with a dinner party. The ABE Initiative participants proved how talented, friendly, and full of wit they are during the 5day internship program.
There is no way to thank them enough. We look forward to stay connected and keep the friendship blossomed in the program.Remarkable experience!
That is a remarkable experience for both 8Gear and internship students, and by these occasions to be held frequently, things will surely go smoother between Japanese and African business relationship.
